Name

Azur (Named for the color of the water he is constantly looking for. He thinks it sounds majestic).

Age

6. In human years, he’s in his prime. In dwarf camel years, he’s “efficiently sized.”

Favorite Food

Seaweed salad. He doesn’t know where to find it in the middle of the desert, but he dreams of it often. He settles for incredibly soggy dates.

Favorite Hobby

Competitive Splashing. He’s the reigning champion of the Oasis Cannonball competition (a division of one). He also enjoys practicing his synchronised swimming routine in ankle-deep mud.

Key Accomplishments

• Successfully crossed the Eastern Desert using only a tiny, ornamental waterspout as his guide.

• Can hold his breath for twelve seconds (he is very proud of this).

• Once mistook a mirage for a waterpark and ran three miles at top speed. It was a good workout, at least.

Fun Fact

Azur is the only camel in the desert to have attempted (unsuccessfully, so far) to invent deflatable hoof-shoes. He is absolutely certain that with a big enough “air-sac” on each foot, he can “efficiently and stylishly” skim across the surface of the water, like a very large, very confused desert-adapted gecko. (He usually just ends up falling over).

Favorite Colour

Coral Reef. He’s never seen a coral reef, but he’s confident it’s his spiritual home.

Favorite Animal

The Manatee. He considers them “the distinguished gentleman’s camel of the sea.”

Interesting Fact

Azur is the only known camel to get seasick on land if he isn’t near a body of water for more than twenty-four hours. He’s looking into a transfer to the Nile Delta.
